Pollard Stands by Rohit Sharma's Performance
Kieron Pollard, the batting coach for the Mumbai Indians, has addressed the discussions surrounding Rohit Sharma's slow start in the IPL, emphasizing that the star player should not be evaluated based on a few disappointing performances.
Rohit, who has led MI to five IPL championships, has struggled in the current season, scoring 0, 8, and 13 runs. Pollard remarked, "Rohit has made significant contributions to cricket history across various formats. He is a true legend, and we shouldn't judge him solely on a few low scores."
Pollard expressed confidence that a significant innings from the 37-year-old is imminent and urged against placing unnecessary pressure on him. "Every player experiences slumps. Rohit is enjoying his game without feeling overwhelmed. I believe we will soon celebrate his return to form with a big score, and then the focus will shift to the next topic of discussion," he added.
The Mumbai Indians have also discovered promising young talent this season, and Pollard expressed his happiness at their contributions to the team.
He noted, "We have young players stepping up at crucial moments. While we often place high expectations on them, we must remember that the experienced players who have guided them should not be overlooked. A balance is essential."
